While I wouldn't mind 'more of the same, but better' in a sequel, what I'd really like to see is something that pushes the tower subgenre further something that's new, like what if we're building a tower, and it's not two, but three dimensions? Those little bits of personality really do help make things feel more dynamic and engaging (or maybe it's already in there and I'm just terrible at paying attention). I don't think I've ever seen residents visit the casino from the Vegas expansion. I have some thoughts on that, for instance, it would be nice to see more depth (hah) in the simulation, like tenants doing more beyond staying in their office / apartment and the occasional trip to a restaurant. A lot depends on your territory - protection rackets, being able to start new businesses and new production chains, and growing your empire. So having a complex economy is right in our crosshairs, as it were :)īut we're putting our own spin on it, we're not GOC but we're doing our own vision, which relies on both a material economy of money and booze and weapons and so on, and on a social economy of knowing the right people and getting introductions and favors.Īs for territory - yes, that's another core part of it. And when you're making and distributing stuff that's illegal, there's a lot to worry about from both your rivals and from the police which is not going to help you (quite the opposite). Resource production, and supply chains, are a huge part of it. What would it be like to run the mafia - not as a combat game, but from the business end? So you have to worry a lot about where your money is coming from, how you're making it, how to protect it, etc. Rob: So at its very core, City of Gangsters is a mafia management / tycoon game.
